On-Campus Part-Time Jobs
On-Campus Part Time Job is the most ideal job for an international student as they can work within the college campus in spare time and earn extra money. In the UK, students are allowed to apply for on-campus part-time jobs in various departments and sections.
The on-campus jobs are mostly offered in libraries, bookstores, laboratories, computer labs, gym, receptions, cafeteria, campus guide etc. Students can apply for these jobs while they are in their first years of studies and work for 20 hours a week. During vacations and holidays, they can work for up to 40 hours a week. However, the on-campus jobs especially in libraries and laboratories are offered to students who have good communication skills and relevant skills and knowledge to handle a job role. As the on-campus part-time jobs are limited, only deserving students are entitled to the job.
Off-Campus Part-Time Jobs
Most students are offered a part job off-campus as it is relatively easy to find. The job roles that can be opted are delivery boy, cashier, bookstore helper, grocery store helper, data entry operator, waiters/waitresses in restaurants, call centres executive, swimming pool maintenance etc. To be eligible for off-campus part-time jobs, the student must ensure to get permission from respective college authorities. Once part-time off-campus employment is approved, the student can apply for a job as per their preference. Students are allowed to work for a maximum of 20 hours in a week other than the lecture and study hours. However, during holidays and vacation they can work for extra hours and can also opt for full-time work in that period.

Note: Payment for a night shift job is usually higher than the day shift. One can expect 1.5 times more payment per hour in night shift work than the day shift.
The UK post-study work visa allows international students to stay back in the UK to search for work for a period of 2 years after completing their graduate studies.
The new visa rules will come into effect from September/autumn 2020 or later. During the first year after graduation, PSW visa holders can work in any job until they find work to move towards a general work visa.

Any international student having a Tier-4 visa and is enrolled in a recognized UK higher education from September 2020 is eligible for stay back period after their graduation.
Now international students who enroll from 2020/21 can stay up to two years before they are required to change their visa or leave the country. International students are required to find a job with a minimum salary of £20,800 with a Tier 2 sponsor license. Also, students pursuing Ph.D. are allowed to stay up to 12 months after completing their degree.
